Kimi No Na Wa. (Your Name.) Tokyo Locations

I had every intention to do an entire post on my trip to Tokyo last April (like what I did for my trip to Hanoi, Vietnam), but seeing as a year has elapsed and I have a few hundreds of photos to go through, I’ve decided to split them up into a couple of photo posts.

I watched the anime Kimi No Na Wa (Your Name) a couple of months before I flew to Japan so I set out to find the iconic staircase featured in the last scene of movie and in the promo images.

Suga Shrine Staircase

Though Suga Shrine is a 10-minute walk from Yotsuya Station, I decided to take a walk from my capsule hotel close to Kagurazaka Station (it was about a 35-minute walk and 2.9km away).

The staircase isn’t exactly at the shrine itself (and it’s not marked on Google maps) but you’ll find it eventually if you circle around the area. Taki-kun and Mitsuha somehow managed to find each other on the staircase after all.

I visited the shrine on a weekday morning and there were already a handful of couples and photographers there so i’d imagine it’ll be a lot more packed in the afternoon or on weekends.

Throwing in a Call Me By Your Name x Your Name edit I made as well aka Call Me By (Your Name). Alternate ending where Elio and Oliver cross paths in Tokyo.

The National Art Center, Tokyo

I didn’t plan to visit the Your Name locations other than the staircase, but since I was in the Roppongi area I visited The National Art Center.

I thought I could check out some of the exhibitions at least, but I didn’t realise that the Yayoi Kusama exhibition was running and there was a 2-3 hour queue just to get tickets. I snooped and snapped around the public areas and exhibitions for a bit before leaving shortly after (cos for the ‘gram amirite).
